Southampton International Boat Show – Activities and exhibitors announced

by | Jun 18, 2019

Southampton International Boat Show is on the horizon and this year’s event will highlight the accessibility, flexibility and inclusivity of boating.

Britain’s biggest boating festival, which takes place from Friday 13 September to Sunday 22 September 2019, announced that its brand new lead sponsor for this year would be Borrow A Boat.

The Show is set in Europe’s largest purpose-built marina and will display some of the world’s most luxurious and innovative boats. Thousands of enthusiasts and businesses will be in attendance as well as a number of guest speakers who will showcase how getting out on the water is for everyone.

Try your hand at one of many activities

One of the main focuses of the event will be to emphasise that access to watercraft is easier than people may think, highlighting that it’s for people from all walks of life.

On top of this there will also be interactive attractions offering visitors the chance to get on the water and try their hand at a number of different marine activities.

These activities include stand-up paddleboarding, driving RIBs or sailboats on the Solent, and many more.

We’ll be showing just how accessible, inclusive and flexible boating and watersports can be with something for everyone to enjoy.

– Lesley Robinson, British Marine CEO

Attendees will also get the chance to speak to experts to hone their knowledge on a number of topics. Visit the practical boating stage and meet some of the biggest sailing personalities and learn skills and insights first-hand ahead of your next nautical adventure. This is designed for both beginners and enthusiasts, meaning there are a range of skills to be learned.

Another interesting spot that’s worth a visit is the Seaside Storytime Ship, where you can sit and listen to magical tales of adventures at sea. There’s also the Rum & Gin Bar, the perfect place to relax and unwind with a cocktail.

Brand new exhibitors and more boats than last year!

There has been plenty of interest from global marine brands who are going to be showcasing their boats at this year’s Show. 2019 will see more exhibitors and boats on display than last year with the marina expanded to accommodate additional boats and on-water activities.

Over 600 global marine brands will be in attendance showing off a vast array of beautiful boats and other marine products to the masses. There will therefore be a number of new exhibitors including Gulf Craft, Nautor’s Swan, Iguana Yachts, Hydrolift and York Marina.

An environmental focus

Last year, the Southampton International Boat Show launched a number of environmental initiatives. They made the long-term pledge to move away from single use plastics, to serve only sustainable fish at the event, and to continue to recycle waste wherever possible. And at the 2019 Show the organisers are introducing a number of additional commitments for the event.

These new commitments include a beach clean-up operation that will be open to members of the public in the build-up to the Show. This is designed to help protect and support the iconic coastal habitat and wildlife of the area.

An Environmental Award will also be launched at this year’s Show to recognise exhibitors who have gone above and beyond to reduce their environmental impact at the event.

Lesley Robinson, British Marine CEO, said: “At Southampton International Boat Show, powered by Borrow A Boat we have an ideal location to get people on the water and this year we want to get even more people enjoying new experiences in, on and around the water. We’ll be showing just how accessible, inclusive and flexible boating and watersports can be with something for everyone to enjoy.”
