Marina Giants IGY Plan Huge European Growth Project
IGY has been an international giant in the marine industry for many years now – ever since 2005 – providing some of the most expensive yachts in the world with superb locations to moor up in. Primarily, IGY has operated in the Caribbean and American regions of the globe, with only two of their sixteen marinas being outside of this catchment (one in France, one in Italy).
That’s set to change, however, after presentations by the company directors suggest that 35 new European projects are being looked at in an attempt to turn IGY into worldwide superstars.
The brand name stands for Island Global Yachting and was developed by Andrew Farkas, a man with seamless concepts who has built himself an impressive empire across the marine and real estate industries. IGY have some of the most popular marinas in the United States, notably the One Island Park Marina at Miami South Beach, and the North Cove Marina in Central Manhattan, New York.
But their new announcement came just last week when Kenny Jones, marina operations executive, presented at the highly anticipated Monaco Yacht Show 2018 and revealed the huge ambitions to grow the business even further. Although no specific locations have been disclosed, it’s understood that IGY wants to spread their presence right across the continent as well as developing their existing venues.
The first Mediterranean location they managed to get hold of was the Sete Marina in the south of France just below Montpelier. This marina isn’t actually open yet – there has been some impressive construction going on ahead of this brand new facilities grand opening next year (2019). The operation here is turning the Sete Marina into a huge location for the world’s wealthiest. There will be almost 700m of quay and space for a staggering 21 superyachts, making it a real hotspot for the marine industry.
The other is the Porto Cervo Marina in Sardinia, Italy. This is an existing port known as ‘one of the Mediterranean’s greatest ports’ which they took ownership of recently.
But these two facilities will soon be joined by many more impressive ports as the IGY family grows. We can only look forward to more updates as they bid to become the largest premium marina manager in the world.
